Kidsmoke are Lance (Vocals/Guitar), James (Bass/Vocals), Sophie (Guitar/Vocals) and Ash (Drums). The Wrexham-based indie-pop 4 piece are back with their newest single..
The band have spent the summer in the studio with long-time producer Russ Hayes, working on their forthcoming debut album. This single marks the start of a campaign that the band have been eager to get under-way, with the album taking shape for release next year. For Rising Sun, they took a trip out to sunny West Kirby to record with former the Coral guitarist and all-round hero Bill Ryder-Jones.
Lance (Vocals/Guitar): The first two lines I wrote for Rising Sun were ‘I don’t want to follow’ and ‘ I feel your love’; I wanted the song to be centred around those lyrics, so I started thinking about how they could be linked somehow. The song ended up being about pushing against what other people expect of you, even if that pressure is coming from the people you are closest to.
In October 2018, Kidsmoke are heading out Western Canada with Wrexham’s FOCUS Wales Festival to showcase at Breakout West Festival, where they will play to a host of international delegates and North American industry professionals. Speaking of the band’s trip, Andy Jones (FOCUS Wales co-founder and music booker) said: “It’s great to see Kidsmoke making this important step in their career, and we’re really pleased we can play our part in their journey”.
Rising Sun will be released Nov 2018. Recorded by Bill Ryder-Jones (West Kirby) and Russ Hayes (Orange Studios, Penmaenmawr). Mastered by Gethin John (Hafod Mastering).
